Week 4- Analysis by Jhadai McDonald
In the presented reading, some concerns that stuck out to me were the disorganized and sporadic sentences that had little to no help with the flow of the writing. I chose to respond to these concerns by structuring my manifesto similar to it. I skipped spaces vertically, however, not horizontally. I also used other people's manifestos as inspiration for mine (Google images). In addition, I chose to write down actions a procrastinator (like myself) would do or things we would think in a classroom setting. I chose these materials and this process because it was relatable and easy, however, I could not copy word-for-word or even use another person's manifesto to create my own as it would be a clear sign of plagiarism. Writing down the thoughts and actions of a procrastinator allowed me to brainstorm and plot how I wanted to write this manifesto- allowing me to structure it well.
The tone of the piece is very light-hearted and funny (as it was meant to be) and I decided to write it this way because procrastinating is not something we take very seriously. As students, we somehow find a way to get what we need to do done. I simply aimed to emphasize the struggle we face to achieve our end goals. Through this response, I have learnt what a manifesto is and how to write one. I have also learnt that I hate four additionally pieces of art.
