Georgeanne Casper: Week 1 Analysis

In my response, I took the famous blog "Buzzfeed," and did a Roaring Twenties remix. Buzzfeed today consists of crafty DIYs, funny interviews, controversial topics, fun facts, and quizzes. The writers of Buzzfeed incorporate present day controversies, issues, or interests that an average person may be intrigued in. I tried, with my knowledge, to come up with article/video titles that may have sparked the interest of 1920s citizens. I tried to keep in mind what the average 1920s man or woman would have either faced or enjoyed to hear in an article. The materials I used were simply being a young adult in today's world and comparing our social norms/interests with the significant events that took place in the 1920s and what a young adult, at that time, may have be drawn to. Like today, many people are concerned about politics, so I made sure to include that as a main topic. For the entertainment side, I figured I'd stay with the consistent articles about fashion, astrological signs, celebrity facts, and many more "must knows." I tried to keep the titles as humorous and entertaining as possible as I tried to target a younger audience. I made these choices simply to keep my remix as close to the real Buzzfeed as possible, except with real, 1920s interests. Through completing this response I learned that interests/viewpoints change A LOT through time. Most obviously, fashion sense has changed, but I think most importantly after a few twists and turns, the world often opens their minds to new cultural advances, whether it had been through voting laws, immigration laws, the world does eventually open their eyes to better opportunities for all, thus improving who we are as a society. What started off as a simple comedic remix, turned out to teach a much bigger lesson on the opportunities/events/advances that happen throughout our history.
