Raymond L. Week 1 Analysis: Complex Mag

For my response I created a Complex Mag article showcasing some of the positive aspects of Soap Operas.  I wanted to highlight some of the great things that came about from them.  For instance,  there is the very talented and gifted man named Kalup Linzy who is inspired by various soap operas and Is able to translate that into his work. Furthermore, I wanted to show how Soap Operas benefit society in the way that it gives back by educating the people.  Gay Tolerance, teaching people how to read, and sexual health were all things that were brought to light in different soap operas throughout time.  Another reason as to why I wrote a news article is because Complex Mag is a very modern news organization and they make articles on multiple artistic and upcoming trends in our society.  I believe that writing an article about soap operas would give it a modern twist kind of like how Kalup Linzy did with his record label drama soap opera.  He has a way of making his art sort of seem serious and also not serious at the same.  Altogether his work has some very special meaning to it and the complexity of his work reflect on how soap operas are possibly more influential than we think.
