How I Met Your Mother has many unique traits that differentiate themselves from other television shows. Throughout the series, HIMYM gained fame through their social rules such as, the Slap Bet, the Woo Girl, the Naked Man, the Nothing Good Happens After 2AM Rule, and the Olive theory, that many people found very humorous. How I Met Your Mother ended up publishing their social rules as "The Bro Code," which was Barney Stinson's patented set of rules for modern living. Barney's rules were posted on a blog including classic witty articles such as, the Lemon Law, the Three Days Rule, the Hot/Crazy Scale, and the Platinum Rule.
The Bro Code: The Olive Theory
This concept is based on the relationship between Lily and Marshall. The theory is that if one person in the relationship loves olives but the other hates olives, they are considered a perfect match because they have obtain a balance and are meant to be together. This concept is a metaphor that opposites attract. If a couple is on a date together and one person orders a meal that contains olives but hates them, the other would be delighted to eat their olives for them so everything works out perfectly.
