• What themes or concerns in the presented reading are your responding to?
• What are the materials and processes you used to formulate your response? Why these? If several, which
are you most concerned with?
• Why these materials and processes. What are their limitations? What do they allow?
• What choices did you make? (For example, the tone of a piece of writing, or the lighting decisions for a
photograph.) What led your decision-making about them?
• What did you learn through this response? (You can address new knowledge or new questions you’ve

In the reading and the video, the themes and concerns presented were that of emotion, descriptive settings, and developing a story plot. I've responded to these concerns and themes by touching on the emotions of Americans and how we all want love, security, and equality. In addition, I fully described the scene in a way as to reveal that in the end, we all desire to have what the picture dictates to us. I used a picture from the website listed below to formulate my response because I wanted to closely relate to the video by Ariel Goldberg. I figured that a picture would have a deeper meaning than an AD or Trailer which are very straightforward and self-explanatory. I used a photo blog to find my picture because I knew that I would have a lot more room to choose the picture I wanted to describe. However, the picture was very limited as it cannot depict sound; therefore causing viewers to use their vision to describe it's features. I made the decision to use a black and white photograph because I strongly believe that they hold a deeper meaning- cancelling the distraction of color and allowing the viewer to focus on the main point of the piece. Black and white shows equality, also. My thoughts on America's inequality today led to my decision of choosing a black and white photograph. Finally, through this response, I have learnt what ekphrasis is.
