I decided to respond to the prompt. Trying to make sure that I came as close as possible to using my own ekphrasis, taking into account the way that the reading and video flowed.
I used Youtube and basically my knowledge from watching so much television to remember what commercial was most appealing for me to write about. What concerned me was making sure that I didn't say exactly what the commercial stated, but that I got my points across.
My limitation with Youtube was trying to find a video that showed the whole commercial and one that was not recorded by another person. It allowed me to find a variety of videos that would have made me just as happy. The limitation of using my memory was trying to figure out exactly which commercial to use because there are so many State Farm commercials, but it allowed me to process which commercial I thought would fit this prompt best and also what I could explain best.
The only tone that I really wanted to come across was ekphrasis because that was the assignment.
I realized that it's a little hard to use ekphrasis because it was about explaining the commercial, but also putting in my input. This was almost in a monotone like voice which I am not very used to. That made it a little challenging for me, but the reading and the video definitely helped me out.
