Moises Urena: Week 5 Analysis

1. What themes or concerns in the presented reading are your responding to?

The theme I'm responding to is the collage theme. All the pictures in the reading were made up of different other pictures.

2. What are the materials and processes you used to formulate your response? Why these? If several, which are you most concerned with?

The materials I used were google, iMovie, my laptop, and, photoshop. I used google to search different images. Then I used photoshop to cut the image from the original image and posted it on the collage I was creating. Then I saved the collage between each image added and put it into iMovie. I was most concerned with using iMovie because I had never used it. I wanted to make sure the video came out how I pictured it in my head but I wasn't sure if it would since I didn't know how to do much on iMovie. I learned a couple basic things by randomly clicking and double clicking.

3. Why these materials and processes. What are their limitations? What do they allow?

I used photoshop because I'm very comfortable with it and knew how to maneuver within it. A limitation with photoshop is that I can't make the images move within photoshop. Since I couldn't, I used iMovie for that. I used iMovie to paste the images together separated by about a second. Each new scene added something new to the collage. The limitation of iMovie for me was that I couldn't figure out how to zoom in to where I wanted to at certain times.

4. What choices did you make? (For example, the tone of a piece of writing, or the lighting decisions for photograph.) What led your decision-making about them?

I chose to paste one new object new into each scene so it could be easier to follow. I also decided to work from one side of the screen to another side so it could also help with following along. If I would switch between the left and right of the screen to much than it would be a bit harder to follow.

5. What did you learn through this response? (You can address new knowledge or new questions you’ve gained regarding the class reading, the materials/processes you used, or both.)

I learned how to do some things inside iMovie. I learned how to stop the scene from automatically zooming into shots. I also learned how to shorten or extend certain scenes. The most important but easiest thing I learned was how to add images to the movie.
